Re: Best tool/blade for removing matts?

Pam cooking spray helps with removing mats! My setters like it a little to well but works! Also helps if you spray the long hair before they hit the brush & reapplying it through out the day make brushing out easier! Cleans right out with a bath after a day afield!

What does breeding for color & texture have to do with training? Trainig is training... Whether it's for hunting, obedience, or show. I always feel 7 to 12 weeks is a good time to evaluate a litter! The breeder should be able to shed some insight into the Pup personalities. They have time to observe the pups as to which pups eat first (dominance), explore (independence), & Play (social standing). How they react to new situations? ...

We use it in the house with current dog... So far not an issue! But have seen a softer tempered dog revert to it... with a little pressure. I never used sit with our setters that we showed... Judges only views the dog for a short time in the show ring... Didn't need the dog sitting at the wrong time!

Thread & alcohol... We tied the Corded off with thread to insure no excess bleeding. A cotton ball with alcohol to insure it's clean...
An extra set of hands to rub the pups & clean them up... rubbing stimulates the pup (like mom licking them).
