TGR gundog Kennels
I've known Rob for a few years now. He is as honest as they come and will do you a great job. He has a great record with NSTRA champs and you won't he disappointed. X2. Rob is a great trainer with a very methodical training program. He is starting a dog that I bought from him as we speak. Very hone...

Teaching Sit to Pointing Breeds
OP, your trainer is right! This creates a problem that is very time consuming to undo. Sometimes it's impossible to undo. If you have the choice, wait to teach sit until the dog is whoa broke and steady to wing and shot. Those two things can stress a dog out once the training has been progressed to ...

Here is a set that we built. I have another just like it at the house that has a wooden house on the end for welping and raising pups. They work great!

Re: UTV set ups.
Jim, This was the best "hunting" set up that I could come up with. I tried a dog box for the ranger but I really missed having the bed. So I had this rack built and the chain allows you to put multiple dogs in the bed and to still be able to use the bed easier when needed. I like this set up for tra...

No info out there? Anyone even heard of a Beshear. Maybe Elmer Beshear? I can't imagine there'd be too many folks breeding GSPs with that exact same last name, so that's where I'd start. http://texasgundogclub.com/forum/archive/index.php/thread-631.html edit: Not sure if my link works now, but it d...

Beshear dogs?
I have a bitch whose sire was out of a beshear dog(Beshear's checker's chip). I haven't heard much or can I find much on the web about them or even where they were from. If anyone has any beshear dogs or any info or pedigrees I would be really interested in hearing about it. Thanks in advance....

New Jr. Hunter
Heidi passed her final leg for Jr. Hunter this past weekend in Caldwell TX. This is the first dog that I have raised and trained all myself and she received a lot of compliments from the judges. She'll start her adventure towards Sr. Hunter in Jan. We're very proud to have such a natural bird dog! W...

Pigeon nest boxes
Yeah I'm going to put some pine straw in the loft for them to build their nests out of. The only problem for me having two nests per box is too many birds. I only want what I need for training and I don't want to feed anymore than I have to. My FIL has rollers and they will raise babies anywhere! He...

Pigeon nest boxes
I finally finished my boxes yesterday. I had some old 1x12 shelf boards laying around so I dusted off the table saw and started ripping. I screwed the perch boards on the front of the boxes to the uprights so each individual box floor can just be lifted out for cleaning. 12 boxes for 16 birds should...

Heidi went 3 for 4 on JH passes at the TVVC/LSGSPC hunt test this past weekend! Couldn't be prouder of this little gyp! Got some really good compliments and interest from some pretty important judges! We only missed out on the 4th due to the heat and the birds leaving town. Can't wait to finish up h...

Re: OKLAHOMA HUNTING
That's a good idea, i just realy wanted to work my gyp especially on wild birds. The preserve birds aren't smart enough to boogie when she gets too close. I think getting burned by a few wary birds would do her alot of good! I've heard the areas in far NW Oklahoma held a few birds this past season. ...

Caddo National Grasslands
My info is dated, but better than nothing. 30+ years ago there were very few quail, and I will bet less now, a lot less. There were a few select areas that had excellent woodcock hunting, the best I have found save LA. Good luck, but Texas is a pay to hunt state, and not in East Texas. Gotcha. Than...
