I must agree with the fact that pen raised quail won't survive in the wild very long unless you invest many hours and lots of hard work to provide cover, food and water. We've raised bobwhite for 25 years and on occasion Coturnix when bobwhite eggs were hard to find. It is very rare for pen raised quail of either species to raise young. Once in a while a bird will set a nest in a flight pen and hatch eggs but the older birds usually kill the young or they just disap...

Normally most parts of KS have quail but after an extremely hot and dry year the populations are reduced. Usually, NE, SE, and North Central are the best but it will all depend on weather this spring and summer and that will determine the hatching and brooding. The quail will rebound faster than the...
