Re: Sad Day
I know that I do not post much here, basically because I am new to raising and trying to train a gundog (I have had other breeds before), and though you may not know it I read just about every post made, and have found so much great information. That probably puts me as a bit of a lurker, but even s...

Re: Sad Day
Thanks for the kind words. I think the thing that hurts the most is that in my line of work people lay a lot of heavy issues on me and I am constantly under a microscope, and that little pup was always there for me, accepting me as I am, listening to the confidential stuff that I can not tell anyone...

Re: Sad Day
The how is something that adds to the pain. Like we have done at lease 100 times before we were out for a run. Unfortunately I am not athletic enough to give proper exercise to this energetic pup. So I would take him out on a two-track, and drive while he ran like the wind. Normally he would run in ...

Sad Day
My dog died today. Since I usually talked to him about painful things I am feeling very empty tonight. He was going to be only a year old at the month. He had so much promise... He was so loving, good with the family, and a great friend.

Check your gear, and have your hunting party check their's before heading into the field. Sure stuff goes wrong on occasion but much can be preventable.

I grew up on them and love bass. It is a very clean tasting fish. My favorite way to eat is broiled fillets with butter and a dash of lemon juice.

Thats a nice part of the state. I once tried to canoe the entire Muskegon river, starting from Houghton Lake. My wife dubbed it "Stupid Trip # 1"laker wrote:I'm about 100 miles south of the Mac bridge..(Houghton Lake area)Preacher wrote:Welcome laker! Good to have another from the mitten. Help me be smart with trash breaking. Dog is new to the collar. She's conditioned to wear it and I've just started this past week overlaying it on the checkcord. My thought is that trashbreaking her right now is stupid but the darn animal just put a hole in the drywall to get to the cat poop. :evil...

For the cheap part the Mossberg 835 pump is hard to beat and it will do the 3.5 shells. Very versatile, durable, and reliable.

Re: Cat Poop
I dont have any suggestion on how to stop it, but a story of a recent event for a reason why. We have friends that had a brittney, which was about a year old. She was a good pup, I went hunting with her once and she showed a lot of promise. Well one day she got into their cats litter (the kind that ...

Re: My GSP farts
Thanks for the advise (I especially like the one about making worse when in-laws are to visit). I dont have a problem with the farting itself, just taken back at how bad it stinks. He is currently eating purina puppy chow a mug (1.5-2 cups) in the morning and one in the evening, he gets the mini mil...

Not sure if this should be under health and nutrition, but simply put my dog passes gas frequently that makes my eyes burn. Any advise on diet or recommended nose plugs would be helpful.

Among other things I keep a WWII folding trenching shovel. It is small, but super stout. It can pound through frost, dig out the tires, can split wood with the sharpened edge, and bury any evidence.

Hey - Well as this topic indicates I a new member. My true passion is for fly fishing, but also enjoy hunting various species. A couple of years ago my wife, son, and I moved to the U.P. of Michigan and I have been wanting to get a dog for a while. Many factors played into which breed, and it boiled...
