We have begun discussing fencing, when we built our current fence when lumber prices were low, but feel that lumber is too expensive to go the same route, and would like to try an underground or wireless fence. What...

So we made another trip to the vets office for hair patches thinning on my 1 year old gsp..he told us that it wasn't mange and just a bacterial infection. Since the antibiotic cream (Neosporin) didn't make the thinning any worse he asked that we continue using the Neosporin for another 10 days. I'm ...

Female in Heat??
My GSP has been acting strange for about 5 days now, including excessive licking, crying at night, whitish discharge and our neutered GSP has begun trying to hump her. I also had an intact strange dog show up the first day that I noticed her acting strange. Adding up the changes it looks like heat.....

Re: Crate?
I have a medium crate for transportation, however large would be recommended for in the house, my male GSP is about 50 pounds and still fits in the medium. I prefer the plastic VariKennel, free shipping through petco occasionally, they are sturdy and some have tie down holes.

Re: brand new puppy and a mostly outside pet cat?
Don't worry to much about the cat and dog, most cats will adjust to the addition of a dog.. Our current cat would beat up out neighbor's dog and other neighborhood cats, when we got the puppy she was skitish, but since winter they have become good buddies. And I totally agree with the others that a ...

Re: Any one else..
I have used the tread mill and get him out to the field for running, he is has really begun to develop his scense of smell, and it's great to know in the snow he can't rely on on sight in the snow..we aren't doing any field tests, just foot hunting.

Re: Teaching Lab to Heel problems
I had the same problem with my pup, he is easily excited by just seeing the leash..I took 5 minutes several times a day leading my dog around the yard (we have a large yard) with the choke collar, slowly added in longer walks and lots of praise when not pulling. Now at 6.5 months I have seen much im...
