Re: Coyotes and Dogs

Really? Most of yall realize that BIG coyotes are only about 40lbs right? While I understand that a Yote can be pretty ornery I have never seen one that wasn't more interested in putting ground between itself and my dogs. In SW Louisiana, I shot a female coyote that weighed 48 pounds. I have no ide...

I would bring your dog to a professional trainer and see what they thought after a month.

Re: COUNT NOBLE

I would have no problem hunting with him. :D

The National Bird Dog Museum is really interesting. In November, I was in the area picking up a dog and dropped in to see it. I had not been there in several years (Dunn's was stlll open) and it has really expanded. Well worth your while to visit.

Re: Interesting Contract

Go to their website and look at their "started dogs." Look at their started dog videos, for several thousand dollars, you could get a dog able to do this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQltf6khw3k http://www.goldenmeadowsretrievers.com/golden-retrievers/new-arrivals-golden-retriever-puppies-for-sal...

Re: PYTHONS IN THE U.S.A.

Some early projections showed the pythons able to survive in essentially all of the Southeast US and spreading to southern California. Some more recent ones show it limited to southern Florida. Time will tell which is correct. Cold weather is our friend.

Re: Advice on the "Bucket List" trip

The area around Lewistown is very good. You may want to contact Al Gadoury at 6x Outfitters (406) 586-3806. He is very good and books very fast. I have shot Huns, Sharptails,Sage grouse, doves, and pheasants with him. Be prepared to walk. :D You could tell him that Richard S. in Louisiana recommende...

Re: Concealed carry

Wait till your home on leave and go to your county courthouse and apply. They will run a basic background check and then call you to come pick your permit up. Usually 1-3 days. Pay your 5-15 bucks and your set. It's good for a year. Don't let it expire or you will have to wait for the check again. ...

Re: Concealed carry

Being military, you may have different requirements than civilians. In some state, you do not have to take courses, I do not know if this is the case in Virginia. One app on my iPhone showed that Alabama had reciprocity with Virginia and another showed it did not. The Alabama concealed carry license...

Interesting looking ducks. Pacific Black duck? Is it the equivalent of our mallards?

When I googled duck hunting Tasmania, almost every link was regarding banning the sport. Is duck hunting an "endangered species?"

Re: Very old gun, low brass or high brass?

Brass height is the poorest measure of pressure, ignore that advice!....go wiith low pressure RST shells if the gun has been determined safe. But, if the same gunsmith suggested "low brass" then I might be more than a touch leery of any of his advice. This is absolutely correct. I would have the gu...

Re: Fitting the drop in a gun.

Get real measurements of the guns you shoot well, figure out the LOP, cast, drop at comb and heel, the pitch and the other factors--this may give you a guess as to where to go. There are measuring devices for all of these variables. If there is a problem with the drop or cast, depending on the stock...
