I enjoy reading about your adventures with your dog and I learn much from the advice given in your threads. My first vizsla was like that. One day, I took her to a pothole and she started swimming after dragonflies and that was that. I remember when I was young and hunting with a friend's pup. The dog found a pheasant that flushed across a wide ditch. I held fire, but another shot it and it landed in the ...

He is 19 1/2 weeks in this picture. He is out of Hunt m Up Vizsla's in Harvard, IL and the sire is Man o War from Busch Vizsla's...

Welcome H_D_O, I re-discovered this site when I got my second pup and it has been helpful to me. I am currently in the "shut up and don't worry" stage with my new boy. There is much common sense info here, once you filter out the grouchiness. :) I too, just enjoy it all and I consider you lucky to l...

it really depends on when you go. It can be excellent during the week, but I won't go on a weekend as I am just not into the crowds. One thing that is nice here is it is all pre-registered now and you can show up any time you like. If they allow clean-up hunts afterwards, that is a great time to go ...

a pair of quail make a great mount. Smooth the feathers and clean any blood off. You can use an old silk sock (holes on both ends)to slide over the bird to keep the feathers in place for freezing.

Hello,

I once hunted with a young Brit and he was the same way. I was not into training back then and we both were learning as we went. He pointed more as he grew. My vizsla points most anything for fun and would hold a point as a pup, though it lacked style until birds were shot.
