Help with Venison please....

Christmas gifts included a sausage stuffer, jerky/snack stick gun and a dehydrator. I'm really thinking that the gifts were in response to the two deer harvested this year, the first in over 10 years. My dilemma is that I am by no means a meat expert or a butcher and I have some questions. In readin...

I've never hunted either area and would appreciate some tips if possible.

Thanks for all the information John. Yes, where in NY? I'm in Orange County and we have two reputable trainers that I am aware of. One is Ray Wunderlich out at the Catskill Pheasantry, the other is John Menella at Haven Valley kennels. I'll be starting to work Scout with John for the same reasons, Getting Scout steady to Wing and Shot.

Thanks CJ,
Sounds like Scout should do fine on the test since he scored very well on the NAVHDA NA test in the field work. I was a little concerned about how long he needs to hold point but it sounds as if we will be ok. I assume no verbal or whistle commands are recommended during the test.
