. I could not tell from your post if the dog was going to be kenneled right next to your pigeon coop. One thing to keep in mind if this is what your planing. Pigeons are messy and there droppings will bring rodents that carry diseases. I would not worry that much about the dog getting desensitized a...

I'm just going to say what I should have done in the weeks prior to pup arriving. Pick one training programe. Just one. Build a pigeon loft. Get young homing pigeons that have never been flown. Buy a remote bird launcher two if you can afford it. Later buy a JASCO collar. Even later buy an Ecollar. ...

Just an idea for the roof rather then shingles would be the metel roof sheets used for awnings and such. You could extend the overhang slightly and then just hose off the roof when the droping build up. I also think the birds will be less likely to roost on the metal roofing. Your on the right track...

Re: COST OF TRAINING??
IMO. Leaving your dog with a pro trainer should not be done untill your dog is 2yrs or just shy of. You should already know what your dog is capable of and expect a finished dog in 3 months. That means you have done proper bird intro, Gun intro, hunted him one season. Then send your dog away to a pro.

I agree that a young pup 16weeks to 5 months old should catch a few birds. I'm not a trainer or by any means an expert, but I let my dog catch a few week flying planted Coturnix Quail AKA Japanese. I have a topper and rarely let the dog just ride free in the back. I don't think it is really a safe option. From researching it seems the noise could be a problem. My main concern is altitude and the dogs abilty to adjust to pressure changes. The plane does not have pressurized cabin, we have oxygen tanks for shorts flights above 11k. we would keep are altitude below 1Ok if the dog was on board.
