Just remember a dog can take a lot more cold than heat. I haul mine in an open bed with mud river insulated covers. I leave the zipper open some for air. He will be fine with a good insulated cover.

I use the hound heaters in my boxes. With the ability to set the temp it will be just fine. Mine don’t have that but the dogs love the warmth. When it’s cold out they don’t want to come out. Been using them for years. Safe with hay and all. No worries of Fire. Make sure your roof and floor are extra...

Jonbailey I don’t know the extent of your knowledge and experience with hounds. Mine is very limited. In my youth I had hounds and coon hunted a lot. You may want to concentrate on obedience. Heel sit here. And have a helper throw marks for you but make sure you only do a couple. You can’t make retrieving a chore for him. If you're talking about AKC Retriever trials, they have little to do with hunting and everything to do with ability and training. You are competing against the greatest dog's in North America and there has to be a way to separate them. This venue is for a very limited few, the elite of retrieveredo...

Right now you need to be concentrating on his marking ability. He needs to "see" the fall to the ground. White bumpers. And have a helper throw marks if possible. That will get him in the habit of looking "out" and not at you throwing the bumper. Build confidence in his marking ability. That's the n...
