Re: Starter Gun

I think a good used launcher is harder to find then the pistols. From an amateur one dog at a time perspective, a blank gun is a waste of cash, you use it a bit at gun intro, then you transition to shotgun and a bit again at steady to shot before you transition to shotgun if at all. A DT bumper laun...

Re: Launcher solenoid

In the beginning I tried using solenoids like the one you are using. I found the travel of the door lock actuator arm to be too short to launch reliably, that is why I changed to servos. The servos work OK, they have a short lag time and if you hold the trigger button too long you can strip a servo....

I am currently working with a dog in a similar situation. Mine is a little younger (3yrs old) and had never seen game until the first of this year. Yep, Oregon does. Upland and waterfowl. Thing that get's me is that people know our birds are in trouble but still want to take all the limits they can. This is interesting having grown up never having to use a plug in upland hunting, I have never heard of putting three or five shells in the gun as...

I used to keep the recall door open if some birds were still out. But a mink or weasel got in through the recall funnell and killed all the quail last year.
