Re: How Much Would you Pay for a Pup?
I don't think there's anything wrong with either type. It's like arguing over which is better, an orange or a tangerine. I also think that the two types (and the in betweens) are a lot less different than folks think. They can even come from the same litter. Someone explained it to me this way, in m...

Re: How Much Would you Pay for a Pup?
Ezzy, To be fair, this was a pretty passive aggressive thing to say: " It always makes me smile when they tell me field trial dogs are the same as the local breeders but those dastardly local bred pups can't hold a candle to their field trial dogs. Not sure that we can have it both ways. I do agree ...

I think it depends on a) breed, b) pedigree (are the parents from proven lines or champions themselves) c) the breeder (are they willing to guarantee the pups and buy back if there are any issues, d) is it a first time breeding or a successful repeat breeding, e) how the pups will be registered and ...

Grand is a relatively new AKC format. Basically it means it is a 1 hour versus a 30 minute stake. There is also an AKC title associated with a win (see below).

I found this thread on another forum. I did not read all of it but the bits that I sampled seemed to have some good information on the clicker training. Re: more than one hunting dogs in the house?
We have 2 setters (one is an 8 mo pup) and a heeler in the house. I think the obvious pro is that you'll have two dogs that you'll be able to hunt and that means more hunting time :D The cons are the hair in the house and the mud tracked into the house. Ours spend the day in the back yard while we'r...

Pup's Eyes - Anyone ever see this problem?
This issue came on all of the sudden while in the car about 5 min. from my house. Once I got stopped I rinsed them out with saline a few times but that...

I feed mine just a little bit a couple hours before a hunt or trial (about 1/3 normal feeding). At the end of the day a good 30/20(ish) dog food and a warm comfortable place to get good rest are usually all the supplements they need. If you're running them for long periods and notice them slowing do...
