I used one of these some years ago on a hard mouth dog it took a few times but got the job donesetterpoint wrote:lion county has a harness to strap around bird that has spikes on it. if dog put to much pres.. on bird he fells the spikes.. don't really know how good this works but worth a try

I have never felt comfortable buying a pup and having the breeder tell me what I was going to do with the pup. I have 12-20 - & 28 20 is 50th aniverisay new in box 12 is engraved new 28 I have used & love it ,all have 26in. they all came with 5 choke tubes.not saying ruger is better but I like them more than the brownings but each to his own.

Or you could just hide a piece of meat (hot dog, chicken, etc.) hide it and give the dog whatever command you want to use for hunt dead ( I just use "dead" or "dead bird" ). I am fairly sure the parts for a 12 gauge will fit your standard 20. Might make your parts search easier. Brownells, Numrich, Ebay. I would check bushing drop weights of powder and shot first. Then check that double loads of either are not being dispensed. Then load formula for gauge and case. Then component match to load. Then wad pressure. Then fiddle with crimp adjustments, etc. could be wad preasure, not seatinng the wad go...

I feed diamond premium havent found any thing better, good coats plenty energy,but dont overfeed . it dosent take a large amount of it for most dogs. jmo.

I have been using ruger red lables for about 14 years ,no problems at all. have 12,20,and 28 ga. but the 28 is the only one i use,its only 6 lbs.

ron r thanks for the reply . reason for asking is I owned easy movin dot at one time ,I traded her to Don Cranfill in Ill. He did make her a str champion before she died. I allso knew she produced some dogs named total package. Thanks again.

Im 5-8 allso , I have been shoting ruger red lable the last 10-12 years. I have all 3 ga. but only use the 28 ga., because of the lighter weight .I cant tell any difference in my hit miss with the 28 vs. 20.
