Re: Good day in the field with good dogs and good friends

Today was the slightly less than perfect day but was close to the successful hunt for me that some can't understand but we came home with an empty bag, three tired dogs, and a dog and a inexperienced hunter a little bit smarter than when they went, and a very happy old man that was able to help a c...

Re: Goodbye to a Good Dog

Always hard to see 'em go. Your friend may find comfort in
knowing Max has gone to endless fields full of birds to flush.
Tell him we sorry.

Re: Dog taking off

He is doing it because he is cc wise. He knows that when you have the cc on he has to mind when off he can do what he wants. Next time you release him with the collar on when you give a command you hold the continuous nick until he turns. Release it once he turns to you. He will get the picture. It...

Re: Flushing question

I've always considered this a good thing. I'll wait 'em out. There are times when it may seem like several minutes have passed. (Good time to grab a photo!) It seems to me from past experiences, eventually that bird will get nervous enough to flush on it's own. As already stated, a "fetch-em-up!" or...

Re: iowa opener

Nice to hear you Iowa folks havin' a descent opener.

We're lookin' forward to this weekend's opener in Illinois.

Couple new pups this year, one being my own and am looking
forward to see him soak up some expertise from some of
the seasoned dogs.

Thanks for the report neighbors!

Nope. Not easy at all to see what they're pointing at most times.
Pretty much the reason why we hunt with dogs in the first place.

Re: FDSB Litter Registration?

The breeder I purchased my llewellin from had registered the litter. His thinking was future owners of the pups would save a few bucks when they registered with FDSB. He was wrong. :D Costs were the same for me, as anyone registering a dog. He DID get a litter registration number, which may, or may ...

Re: 8 Month Puppy - First Wild Bird Hunt

What a great opening weekend. Nice having a "grandma" along to put those finishing touches on the youngin's too. Sounds as though you've put a lot of work into your dogs and they are performing perfectly in the field for you. Really enjoyed your pictures and hunting report. We won't open here 'til e...
