My preference lately has been for chukar/huns - but I haven't hunted them much due to being in TX the last two winters.

Wild Birds at summer camp - are great tools
I am going to summer camp this year - We start training on wild birds anytime after the 30th of July - but only after the spear grass has dropped. Training camp is a great investment of money - in that dogs will be exposed to more birds in the 3 months than anywhere else. I will be sharing a camp wi...

CH Shoeleathers Tanner
Last weekend - Tanner won the first ever breed restricted (llewellin setter) American Field sanctioned shooting dog championship.
Just have to get him those 3 more pesky points to finish his AKC Field Championship too.

Steve - Being a setter guy - but training quite a few (10 or 12) dogs of the breeding I mentioned. They have great natural ability when it comes to pointing, retrieving and their water work. Charles spent 3 days hunting with me and his dogs - Tanner (my llewellin) is almost an FC - Charles dogs were...

Hope you continue to have success with Dewey.
I am hoping to get to enter Tanner in a shooting dog championship in AR. Depends on how much money I have left after my trip to Texas.

Shoeleathers Tanner wins 18 dog OGD stake
My 2 1/2 yr old llewellin setter beat out 2 NFCs and a handful of FC's in Open Gun Dog Stake (retrieving) at Sauvie Is, OR. In hot temps and humidity to get 4 more pts towards his FC - he needs 3 more pts now.

I would recommend netting a bunch of barn pigeons, taking your dog out and pull some of the flight feathers of the pigeon and let the dog...

Hello, my name is Keith Hickam, I am a native Washingtonian and have pursued upland game for 30 yrs. I am owned by a llewellin setter named Tanner and an english setter named Dancer, as well as a Kentucky Mt saddle horse named Cody, whom I feed apples to and use to keep up with Tanner. I am mostly a...
