bloody tail

hello all! my english setter is a very happy girl constant tail wagging.any advice to protect the end of her tail it usually ends up a bloody mess.not sure if using gauze wrap and surgical tape will do it?thanks you for the help.

thanks for replying ! the pups are females,do have strong drive ended up shooting 1 bird each last year.i am wondering if my crappy shooting skills have done some of this.the dogs have grouse ridge blood in them so i know they have good genetics just have to be a lot more patient i guess i just dont...

happy new year!decided to do a extra hunt with the pups.1.5 year old setters,they did pretty good with w/c and a couple grouse finds.they are by no means fully trained.will be hunting chukars,the pups still bust birds but were holding longer.dogs mind really well, hunt within gun range .i would rath...

how often?

hello all. being very new to bird dogs and upland hunting how much do you hunt grouse and woodcock covers?i have a few spots but do not want to overhunt them.since wc are migrants would you hunt those hard while they are here?thank you.i can't wait to get going.

just recieved the cages.they seem like a cool invention . birds are placed in at home then locked down with a spring that you unhook to release the bird.they come with a 20' cord so you dont have to go right to them to free bird.i am thinking a basic type of higgins releaser which will help the bird...

hey all! anybody ever train with this style launch method? the reason i ask is i would only be able to buy one electronic releaser, where i know more than one is really needed. lcs has these cages 3 for 50.any advice is needed thanks.

hey all.this will be my first year bird hunting.i will be mostly woodcock hunting.my question is instead of buying a 410 i was thinking of using a single shot 12 gauge with a shot sleeve.any advice would be helpful also the gun does not have interchangeable chokes only full.will this be serviceable?

just an update on my girl.things took a turn for the worse she would not eat or drink anything we ended up at the vet again after an xray she was found to have a rock in her intestine three grand later she is still in the medical center recovering . i am starting to think hunting dogs are a rich man...

she had cut the top of her paw opened was on antibiotics for that and had some fluid on her incision from being spayed so she was on meds for those as soon as her paw healed this hit about a week later.she has had some bad luck. hopefully will recover so we can resume training.thank you for any advi...

i have been an outside observer of gdf for awhile now . have read a few different books on training pointing dogs.my pups seem to have a good sense for birds ,meaning picking up scent and pointing.i am going to hunt my dogs alone without other dogs,how much of formal training is really just hunting ...
