Re: Importing
Man, some good comments and some that have gotten out of hand..LOL.. I did however find out that the parents of an imported pup do NOT have to be DNA'd, just the pup when registered into AKC and before it's first breeding in the USA. So there's that. Here's the link: http://www.akc.org/pdfs/foreign....

Re: Importing
Thanks braz. I understand all of the questions, no problem for me. Again if I do import a pup, its to only bring new blood over and to add to my lines. Yes, if I wanted liver dogs I could do it here, etc. I want a line not "tainted" by us. Not using tainted as a bad word..lol, maybe not touched by u...

Re: Importing
New blood, is a big one for me. Another is how strict the breeding is over there. were talking 1 litter a year if lucky. They want to only breed the very best to the very best. I'm not saying too much about dog's here....just saying I want new blood incorporated into my line. If I have to get a DNA ...

Ok, wow.. The guy I have been talking to has titles on his bitch, and the sire has been tested at the Kleeman. I am certain I wouldn't have an issue if I did have to have the DNA test done. Casey, you said, "The recessive "e" is found in pointers, not in German shorthairs. It is also found in Irish setters and other dogs who have no black/brown in their coats." Doesn't that give us our answer then? If the pup's have this "e" deal then your saying their pointer's, and if they don't your...

It's your dog, do what you want with him. If you personally think he's worth it then go for it! Don't let people tell you his personality will change. Has yours changed since you were a kid?? Was it for the worst? If you feel he's got something great to pass on go with it!

I don't believe you can get an accurate reading from a MARS test. How can they tell me my GSP is a purebred if they never tested the 1st GSP ever?? Re: orange and white and lemon and white german shorthairs
That's the problem though...why do we need a GSP to run like a pointer, if that's the case buy a pointer. I believe that the shorthair was bred the way it was and refinements were made back in the day, but to make them now I don't believe is right. I'm not saying Chuck tried making refinements, that...

Heavily bred "german" lines have a hound type look, then your danish and sweedish foundation dog's passed on a "Sleeker" type look imo.

That's pretty much how I interpreted it. But also was told there was a ODP (Old Danish Pointer) before the white dog's were brought over. Yeah, moesgaard farm is still in his wifes family. I guess they had sold the kennel name with ib. Is there a specific way you guys set up a training field with pigeons or set them out individually? I have been dizzying and setting one bird down at a time. I don't use a launcher, but have been thinking of buying a couple kick cages.
