Bird numbers were up from last year. Found 21 birds in about 3.5 hrs. Windy but warm. Hunted Miller area. Wish I could have gone Sunday but could only head out sat.

came across these while searching for a new pair of boots...they look awesome. they seem to be made more for the archery hunter and are not insulated...however they are coming out with a 400gm insulated version in July. wonder how they would do for the upland hunter? enough support?

i feel she has been properly socialized. i took her everywhere with me. she goes on walks around busy streets, but i feel in those instances there is so much noise its almost like no noise. she forgets about the noise bc there is so much at once. she has never had any problems with traffic noises or...

It has always been my understanding to look at the spurs to determine age. Not tail feathers. Never heard of the beak trick. I'll have to try it.

anyone use this? I like the fact they were developed and cut to fit pointing breeds. however the fleece aspect has me wondering about briars and tough cover....from South Dakota and hunt just about every kind of cover.

the e collar was introduced outside of the field and was not used in the field until bothi and the trainer i am working with felt she was ready. i dont see any neg association with birds, she loves birds, she holds point well and hunts hard at the trainer with pigeons. gun conditioning has been just...

at first i thought it was her smelling a strange animal....however im noticing now it has more to do with sound....but only in the field...when walking around the neighborhood, there are tons of sounds. cars, geese (i live on the egde of town), kids playing at the school and she pays no attention to...

update took her out to trainer and she had her best day yet....few days later took her out to the fields at the farm, she was excited and acted like she really wanted to get out there.... after getting a little way into the field, she wouldnt even hunt...looked like she was freakin out from differen...

The e collar was introduced mainly for recall. And after a couple days of use(and proper intro) I rarely need to use it. What I meant by nothing too serious is that I haven't started whoa training, FF, backing ect. Just recall with e collar and her finding birds. And didn't see any change in her aft...

hard to explain, just seems when im behind a bit she really gets birdy and does a great job finding them...however when i have the cc in hand it seems as soon as she catches scent the birds are gettin up much earlier and at her age i feel it really helps the pray drive and just practice finding bird...

how do i train this obedience without the e collar...i have a check cord on her however she is usually just out of range for me to grab it in time...if i hold the cc, i end up being the one to flush the birds, the cc is about 30 ft long. i found if its jsut the pup, the birds hold better and with ho...

sorry i didnt say this before....i would be doing more than just six sessions, in total i would do about 18-24 session, its just 100$/six sessions, the one thing i really want him to help with now is gun conditioning...or can that wait until spring as well?

what do you all think..... i have a 4.5 mo female viz who is a very good dog, bold, birdy and so on.....im stuck in between two options at this point, two trainers, both very good and recommended by many, one is offering 100$/6 sessions, i would be there with him during training days unless i needed...
