Anybody tried the new oral flea and tick medication? My vet talked about two different brands one that is given monthly and the other that is given quarterly. A quarterly med sure would be nice.

Re: ammo carry amount??
I have only seen this with water fowl. It is suppose to help people to pass up the 80-100 yd "shots" and encourage closer higher percentage shots. Nothin worse than having someone taking 80 yd shots on birds working your decoys. Limit is usually 6 -25 shells depending on duck or geese.

Resource guarding, training or genetic?
Is resource guarding more genetics or more of a training issue? The reason I ask is because I ran across someone who had a Male litter mate of my dog and long story short they had to give the dog up because of repeated gaurding issues and had a baby on the way. They sought professional help but not ...

I've been working my dog on pigeons and got out last week on some pre-season wild birds. When I can I take my son with me. If you are looking for a service rifle of the AR variety ( he also makes match uppers) check out, White Oak Armament / White Oak Precision. When planting the birds try and take a route so that the dog runs into the scent cone of the bird before they run into the scent trail you left while planting birds. Eventually your dog will figure out that if they find your scent it will lead them straight to a bird. I now ride a mountain bike to p...

I'm not rich enough to own land, and I am not fortunate enough to live near large tracts of government land. So my question is what is the best/most successful way to get permission from private land owners? A phone call, a letter, a knock on the door, best time of year to ask? I don't have a lot of...

I used the Smith method as well but didnt use the piece of garden hose on the pigeon until my dog stopped on scent and was steady to wing. There are still wild pheasants in IL, even on walk in public land. You just have to be willing to walk and walk and walk some more. 5 hours (45 min. of which was looking for the downed bird) 11 flushes (9 hens 2 roosters), 3 points, and one pointed bird in the bag. The first ever rooster bagged over...

We get out 1-2 time a week on pigeons and 3-4 times per week for runs or just walks through the fields(w/o birds).
I thought about using a pigeon or two at the start of the hunt, but I don't have any birds that home, nor a place to get a steady supply of birds.
