Re: Last Quail Hunt of the Season
Haha, I need to work on my posting skills for sure. I found that if I click on the picture and then reduce the magnification to 50%, I can view the whole picture in the screen. I've never been real efficient with computers!

Last Quail Hunt of the Season
Unfortunately, we didn't find any wild birds, but we came prepared with lots of guaranteed action for the dogs. We had unusually warm weather, even for Alabama, and the birds were really running. Lots of action and great fun with friends and family, It's what hunting is all about!

Re: Ft Benning
I'm from Columbus, GA originally. Not a lot going on as far as wild birds, with the exception of a good dove shoot. Head south, closer to Albany, GA and there is a quail plantation everywhere you look. This is where the best concentrations of wild quail are too. Never done much Grouse hunting, but I...

I agree. It's about location, location, location. In my experience, I haven't ever had to do much calling, and they tend to come in a big wave close to day break. Again, these are just my experiences. They are fast, and they tend to hit the water fast (as opposed to cupping up like mallards). Really...
Re: Woodies
They are a blast (pun intended) to hunt in Alabama too. I've waisted a lot of shells over the years shooting at those fast little boogers. Neat hunting spot!
Re: Good Hunt
Not much of a pedigree to speak of. I got him from a local breeder, and neither one of his parents were hunters. My wife and I wanted a medium sized active dog. I promised her he's a pet first and hunting dog second. I just lucked up and got a smart dog that lives to bird hunt.
Good Hunt
I just wanted to post a picture of my Brittany, Cooper. He is the first gun dog I've ever owned, and I couldn't be more happy with his progression. He is only 1 and 1/2.
