Re: Input on fescue and ryegrass hunting conditions
Your kidding right. Fescue is one of the most devastating factors for the decline in upland bird numbers. If it's not the number one killer of quail it's at the top of the list. Just so you understand, quail can not live in fescue, AT ALL. Fescue was one of the worst things farmers have done in the ...

To me that is the stuff that makes a dog fun for having around. I love all my pups quirky stuff, well most of the time. Except for the poop on the porch that might be annoying. When I clear the driveway and deck of snow I will usually clear a patch of grass also. Funny stuff though. I love bird dogs...

If they still look lean then feed more, if they start putting on weight then cut back or add more exercise. They aren't any different then us. The more we exercise the more we need to eat (assuming we are not already over weight). I feed my gsp 3 cups a day plus snacks and he is lean and mean but he...

This was the first time I went grouse hunting. Went to the NE Sandhills and was pleased. Shot a limit 1 done and had pretty good numbers the other days. I can now say I'm addicted to sharpies and chickens and will be going back every year.

Almost 4 years ago I got a GSP and had no idea on how to train a dog. I used the perfect start and the perfect finish and I ended up with a darn good bird dog. I watched those videos over and over and took notes. Good luck I think you chose wisely.

It's hard to say without more specific training details but I think it's fine. He is still young. Keep working with him on Whoa or holding tight away from birds and he will figure out when to relocate as necessary. My dog learned that on his own. Now, after training him my self on holding pigeons, I...

At age 32 I was finally able to get a bird dog and start hunting upland. I wanted to do it since I was a boy when my father had some pointers in the backyard. I have a Lcs launcher and it works great. My theory is if it works just as good and you don't need the extra gadgets that make it cost more than why spend more. For example, Hoyt bows average over 800 my bear bow was 500. I shot both of them and could not tell the difference. Or how about vehicles, ...
