My dog had double knee surgery and Omega 3's were highly recommended by our surgeon. I usually give two gel tabs in morning and in the evening. The stuff is cheap, so why not? gives her a nice coat and she likes the taste. The nutritional value can be debated but it seems to have helped my girl

Woodcock often use a small opening or field to land in and then walk into the alders, pines, maples or oaks. Wet ground or nearby creeks and ponds help but aren't required. In the early morning I find them on the sunny side of slopes near down/rotting trees and ferns where there is plenty of leaf co...

Never hunted in SE, but in Central VA. there is awesome woodcock hunting. Our seasons are a bit funny as it is split. Where I run and hike with my two shorthairs we find woodcock year round somewhat unintentionally. Have found small sporadic wild quail pockets, but have never and would never shoot o...

That's a cool video. In Central VA it is not uncommon to have between 8 and 10 contacts per hour. Glad I'm not the only one who hits the occasional tree and misses the bird.

Interesting read. A bit put off by the $50 dollar difference comment. In this economy $50 is a lot of money for my family, so I would opt to buy the 'bread and butter' stuff elsewhere if I could truly save that much. I support my vet by doing annual exams and anything else they recommend to keep my ...

RGD, You are correct sir, in VA you can't train your dogs during the off season on upland birds. Just wondering what it is like to show up at a place like Ames to simply watch the dogs run and compete. Is there much to see? Never having been to a FT before I thought it might be neat to check it out. I only hunt with my two dogs, but would like to learn more about the FT side of things.

Had tightrope surgery last Thursday and is already putting weight on it and walking half normal. We had the TTA done last time and it took her almost 10 days before she used that leg. I guess the less invasive tightrope made the difference. Only 3 more months of rehab.

I had the sd400 and it was fine for real close in yard use. I found the battery needed frequent charging and the range might have been 100 yds. I now use the SD 1825 and run 2 collars with it and it is outstanding. Have had no trouble this far and would recommend the sportdog line to anyone.
