Re: English Setter Pup - Aggression or Not?

You can and will get all kinds of advice/direction for the community on how to address the condition. Separating out down right aggression vs. rough puppy play where the pup is establishing his rank in the family/pac can sometimes be confusing to diagnose early on and staying the course with correct...

Thanks. Morning feeding isn't a full feeding.

Re: Feeding supplements

Diamond Extreme Athlete - Fat content as others have said, is the energy source and this dog food seems to do it for me. I feed twice a day early(2 hours) before putting dogs on the ground and within a hour of finishing for the day. I also use Glycocharge immediately after picking up a dog for the d...

Alpha 100 hands down. TT15 or the minis it doesn't matter. However, the minis are small and really well designed for small dog.

Re: Training a big running pointer

Get him to turn and recall without fail. Get him steady on his birds and then hunt the heck out of him. So long as the dog is hunting for you, his range shouldn't be of concern in my opinion. he's awfully young at 11 months so be patient and consistent so you don't create an outlaw.

Re: how to intorduce the beeper to your dogs?!

I've found hanging a beeper collar on their kennel and having it beep is an effective way to intro the beeper. I do start off with the beeper 3/4 tapped and located near their kennel while allowing it to beep for 5 minutes at first, as they eat, and then work up to 10-15 minutes as I peel some tape ...

Re: Slate Creek Doc/ Big Delivery

I bred my female (Elhew McGoo bred with an out cross to Fiddler's Ace) to a Brice Morris' Big Delivery ex. Fiddler Male call name Rico last year. every pup had a big time nose, a ton of point, nice style, natural retrieve, smart, fast, big running and can take pressure. Now, my female has one good n...

Re: East wind

I too have heard for years and from many old timers that scenting conditions with an east wind are inferior to all other directions. Not sure there is any truth so perhaps this is a possible episode for the 'Myth Busters'. An east wind has never detered me from bird hunting.

Re: Best nose on an EP?

I agree Ross, Guard Rail is a contributor that cannot be discounted. I like it best through the dams. My experience has been McGoo or his sons Chapparal and Damascus crossed on Fiddler have produced some of the best dogs I've gunned over. Big noses and bird crazy. On the Fiddler side, Fiddler's Ace ...

Fiddler bred dogs. I prefer Fiddler crossed on Elhew and specifically McGoo bred.

Brice Morris is breeding some nice dogs, runs a good kennel and an honest guy. I bred to his Rico dog and I certainly like what that dog is throwing.

As already posted, Mike Logan has about as close up you will likely find. Also Brice Morris from Morris kennel in Iowa has a male that has Big Delivery in the 2nd and 3rd generation of the pedigree.

I know Brice as well. I bred my female (line bred McGoo with an outcross to Fiddlers Ace) to his Rico dog. Pups are a year old and off the chart in terms of nose, intelligence, natural ability, style and speed. Brice is an honest guy and a professional
