I have a dog that I am working with to build retrieve desire she hates bumpers but loves birds. I have her delivering live pigeons to hand how can I use the live pigeons in water without them drowning?

I cannot get my boykin to transition to the ground. Any tips? She will pick it up sometimes but that is it. I continually have to force her. I have been at it for a month.
Off-Leash
I have been using Hickox's method for my pointing dog and my retriever. For those of you familiar with George's methods how does he transition off-leash after he has done his collar conditioning?
Launchers
I have been following Hickox's Pointing Dog Training. My question is there a way to completely train my dog without launchers? If so what can I do to substitute for launchers?

Simple Training Method
I am looking for a simple training method for my pointer. Very simple and no extra jargon. Someone told me the "Burnt Creek Method" would be a good one any thought?
Training
If I do not have launchers what can I do...I was thinking of hobbling the pigeon with a water hose and working the dog and when he points let someone walk in and throw the bird up so that he flies off will this work in place of the launchers?

Thanks everyone! I tried just stepping on her toes with my foot in conjunction with the e-collar and she made the connection no problem. I had her fetching birds off of the ground. Thanks! Hold has been done. I am following SmartFetch. I even tried toe hitch on her today and still no response. I forced trained my first dog with toe hitch and it worked great for her but cannot seem to get any pressure on this dog.

That is what I am using but I am not getting a response it is almost like my dog is not feeling anything.

I have a dog that I cannot get to open her mouth. It is like she has no feeling in her ears. Have any of you ever encountered this if so how do you get enough pressure on their ear to open their mouth? I am to the point I am hurting my thumb.

I am looking at Safegaurd or Panacur Worming Paste. I was told it was the samething. Will this get whips, rounds, hooks, and tapes? Also I want to figure out how much paste to give each of my dogs per 10lbs of body weight someone please chime in.

Just looking ahead to some materials. Which do you all recommend? Reliable Retrieving by Mark Payton or the Dobb's Method? Trying to decide when I get my pointer to that level I want a reliable retriever.

He is just running busting birds he is about 7 months old. These are birds I set out trying to work him into the scent so that he will smell it and hopefully slow down and try to creep up on it and eventually point.

What are some ways I can put weight on my dog? Are there any weight supplements that are out there? I had a guy tell me to soak my food in warm water go to day old bread store and buy a bunch of bread and mix a good bit with food when feeding every day. Will this work?
