Some excellent private hunting grounds in MN. Traxlers, about an hour south of Minneapolis, is great. If you get there, have lunch. Elk burger with Montgomery beer is hard to beat. Lots of fine wildlife management areas to work in when birds are done nesting. Maps are on line at the DNR.

A study of spay/neuter on the internet will lead to confusion. Strong arguments both ways. The Europeans don't tend to spay/neuter as much as the US. 40Farenheit, sunny, rain with maybe snow forecast. People driving on ice to catch a fish. Run the dog for exercise and he comes in dripping mud. TV has the usual thin ice warnings, but apparently perch are needed for survival on a daily basis. It is easier to clean the dog run though.

Watch the ice in the parking lots. Step down from a pickup wrong and you discover the training films on how to fall on ice are meaningless.
Of course, I am living in the now sub-tropical part of Minnesota, so ice won't be a problem for long.

No. Dogs are bred to do most of what we want. We reinforce to get them to do it when we want it and the way we want it done.If that is right, it seems impossible to train with only positive enforcement. since basically training is getting the dog to do something he would rather not do.

We used to get doves with just a bird feeder. The seed spilled by other birds kept the doves happy. We now get a banded dove, sold in pet stores and raised for food, that tend to drive away the smaller morning doves.

Obedience class. Every dog should be taught to come, sit, heel, and stay. Stopping on command is also good. Most of us get out to hunt during a few months, but the dog is a pet full time. Polite behavior is a good thing in dogs and kids.
