Re: What to do with my pup during the day?

You may want to consider hiring a professional pet sitter to check on him each day. They could exercise him if needed. It gets a little costly, but may be helpful if you have no other choice. Go to www.petsit.com, click on the locate a pet sitter tab and enter your zip code. Maybe you have one in yo...

Re: Is 5 1/2 months old to early to nueter a dog?

I don't know about how it affects a hunting dogs performance, but I can say this for sure. If you are interested in having your pet in the house it is Very helpful to have them neutered. You don't have to deal with the marking problem as much. Also, we had a Brittany Spaniel that we had not neuterd ...

Re: What age to wean pups?

All good points, but I tend to agree more with mcbosco. Assuming you are making available to the pups a good quality feed(Science would not be my choice), the mother will wean perhaps a bit earlier than say 8-9 weeks. It's usually a good idea to do what's natural. Mother knows best. What would be y...

What age to wean pups?

We have four very healthy English Setter pups which are now 6 1/2wks of age. I have been feeding them Science diet pup food for 2 wks as a supplement to the mothers milk. The mother dog is kept away from the pups most of the time now, but I find the mother dog BEGS to get in with the pups to nurse. ...

Re: Dog Eating Poop

Could it be that she is trying to get rid of the evidance? She know she is not supposed to go in her crate and is afraid she will get into trouble when you find it. Question would be then....why does she go in her crate and not wait until she goes outside. Good luck!

Re: Eye Color for English Setter Puppy

As long as it seems visual and anatomically normal, you should be fine. This is very common in some breeds, such as Siberian Husky. Good Luck!..................Jim B. DVM Thank you! I will be taking her Monday to our Veterinarian for her first puppy exam and vaccinations. Hopefully we will get a go...

Re: Flea and Tick preventative

Frontline plus always works good for our dogs. We make sure we apply it a couple of days before they hit the woods . We will also add a tick collar called "Preventic". For best results make sure it doesn't get wet and is kept close too the neck, but not tight . It can be pruchased through your vets ...

Eye Color for English Setter Puppy

Our English Setter gave birth to four healthy puppies five weeks ago. All of the puppies but one have dark eyes. The female has one dark eye and one light blue eye. The eye looks healthy and does not appear cloudy. She is now five weeks of age. How common is it for a setter to have two different col...
