Re: German Shorthair Leash Walking / Obedience Help
Agree whole heartedly with the p rong collar (I use a leather spike collar with the points filed down) and obedience class, good advice. You can also do a simple half-hitch under their flank, just take the lead from the collar down and loop it through, it takes all the jump and pull out of them. Ne...

Might have been. I always thought the flat coats where a thick dog like a lab. This one was thinner framed, I may be way of base here, as I'm no dog expert for sure. Dog's tail was high on point, both front legs on ground and leaning forward. Looked real sharp in point. If it was pointing, them if ...

I asked if I could plant one day and compete the next and they said it wasn't allowed. Cause I'd know where a bird build up might be, but shouldn't I be able to compete the first day and plant the second? Our region runs mostly double/doubles. Avoid nose to nose confrontations when your dogs are on leashes. I have seen more aggression and other issues when owners have their dogs on leashes when introducing dogs. Must be the behavior of protecting the owner. Just my two coppers.

8 months old is perfect. Let the pup be a pup for those first 7-8 months. No reason to hurry into your training program, but several reasons not to. So little to gain starting early, but so much to lose.
