Re: Which shotgun brand do you use?

I have a 12 and 20 ga Stoeger sxs. Not the prettiest guns ever made but when you pull the trigger they go boom every time. :D For the price you don't worry about laying them down in a wet field or the back of a pickup !

Re: Ford, Dodge, chitty

Chevy Avalanche .. It's like driving a really BIG car. All the amenities of the wifes Volvo and the ability to go just about anywhere. MPG are of little concern since the phone co. provides my daily driver. It does pinch a little when the $$ gets above $75 on a fill up ...... :(

Re: What gauge do you shoot for upland birds?

20 ga mostly, but really cold or windy days I'll break out the high brass 12ga. Both the 12 and the 20 are identical guns. It's nice to have both in the field. The decision can be made at the truck and the only difference is the color of the shells. :D

Re: What gun dog breed do you currently own and why?

I was adding to our family but did not want to do it long distance. Searched the internet for gun dog breeders within driving distance and then narrowed down the breed from there ... So far so good .. No real disapointments yet ! :D

Too Skinny ?

At 8 1/2 weeks my pointer puppy was 8.5 lbs. He appears to be growing well and is a very happy energetic pup. He looks to me to be way too thin. Ribs and hips visable etc. I feed him a little over 1/2 cup of Purina Pro Plan 2x a day. I don't want to over feed him and I don't want a chubby pup, but h...

Re: NAVHDA for a pointer?

Where do you live Lemonpointer? One thing about pointers is that they aren't big fans of cold water at first. The best way in my opinion is to wait till the water hits 60 degrees and take him for a long hard run. Then take him to some water. He might just jump in and start swimming. If he looks cra...

NAVHDA for a pointer?

I have had my English Pointer puppy for about a week now. I was considering attending a NAVHDA training day in mid April. I liked what I read about NAVHDA vs. filed trialing my new pup. After reading further about what is involved in the utility test I don't know if it is right for a pointer. Perhap...

Brand New to Puppy Training (for the 4th time)

New to the forum, So hello to all. I just finished reading a post regarding the training of a 4 month old GSP. It was a well needed shot in the arm :) I have owned 4 puppies in my life (2 hunters and 2 pound pups). Why is it then upon picking up my new pointer on 2/28 I feel as though I have never d...
