Gentlemen,
I use to help run a Regulated Shoting Grounds, it was 45 miles from the house, that place is long gone. We now train 90% on wild Grouse and finish on our own land in Potter/Tioga. We no longer travel to do any planted bird work with our dogs.

We have about 50 here in Potter/Tioga, I can almost see the 1st one on SGL 208 from the edge of my land. Course we do live back in the Tioga Forest.

Sharon is giving good advise, I recommend the older Dogtra T&B collars, you can usually get them thru collar clinic.
DT also has the H20 T&B a great product also.

PD08, What we recommend is that the pup not be allowed at the breakfast or dinner table until he is older, eliminate this mess from the get go. No we have different retrieving dummies with external wings so the dog gets use to having feathers in his mouth. The dogs can smell
the Grouse scent thru the roller for a very long time, we tape the ends shut on these particular play training tools.

GDL, We do use the wings for one other training operation, we stuff them in a paint roller and duct tape the ends, and use the roller as a retrieving tool.
