Re: crate size

I'm thinking about crate training it as a pup and will eventually move her out to a kennel. So it will mainly be used for travel, hunting, sleeping while on trips. I'm thinking of getting one of these http://rufftoughkennels.com/. The smaller one is 20 wide, 23 tall, and 31 deep. Does this sound abo...

crate size

How big of a crate is everyone using? Do you have multiple crates for different uses? Or just use one for everything? I would like to get one to use for everything and I don't want anything big. I want one I can throw in my jeep and still have plenty of room for other stuff while keeping the dog com...

Re: Looking at Parents

Thanks for the responses. I do feel a little under the gun but am confident everything will work out. I was on the list for a pup from a different breeder and things fell through so I feel like i'm back to step 1.

Looking at Parents

I am visiting a Kennel this weekend to look at two sire's and Dam's. The females are already pregnant but I should be able to see the males work some birds. Any advice on what to look at or look for? This will be my first personal GSP and dog, I did grow up with GSP's. Thanks in advance for the advi...

Re: bird/gun intro

Pup will be 8 weeks when I pick her up. Grouse opens in mid September, I will not make it out to ND until end of November. I realize it will be different for each individual dog. She will be introduced to birds starting with the breeder in the first 8 weeks. I'm really not concerned if I don't shoot...

bird/gun intro

I should be getting a picking up a GSP pup in August. I'm just wondering at what age do you start doing bird intro and gun intro? I realize I will probably get an array of answers but I am just wondering if I would be able to hunt over her this season. Grouse in MN and Pheasant in ND. Pheasant hunti...

Hi everyone - my name is Garrett, I'm 23 and married for 8 months. This will be my first dog although I grew up with GSP's. I have been lurking for a while learning everything I can. I have my name down for a female GSP pup and the dam should be going in heat this month. I am planning on having a ho...
