Re: Dogtra 2500 T&B or Tritronics Upland G3 EXP

I agree 100%... too much is being outsourced to other countries. You might just be surprised by where some of the components of your "Made in America" products are actually made. Federal Trade Commission regs. are very loose when it comes to using this label. Find me a "Made in America" truck that i...

Re: Dogtra 2500 T&B or Tritronics Upland G3 EXP

I was the poster that said I felt the beeper on the TT was too loud. The original poster was looking for opinions. I do not have big ranging dogs, so I do not need a fog horn style beeper. VZ, you are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. You are big on "made in America". FYI, freedom o...

Re: DT 1902NCP or the TT Sport Basic G3

The 1900 series is Dogtra.... not DT Systems. Huge difference in my opinion. I have the 1902, it is a great collar. I really like the ability to switch from one dog to the other, without having to move a toggle switch. I train for hunt tests with my retrievers, hunt upland and waterfowl or guide at ...

Re: Dogtra 2500 T&B or Tritronics Upland G3 EXP

The Dogtra 2500 has the beeper horn molded into the receiver box and is not fixed to the collar as stated (incorrectly) in this thread. This feature is great for smaller dogs... also makes it less likely to catch on a fence. The Tri-tronics has a monster size beeper horn that is so loud it could wak...

Re: Electronic collar question

2-3 weeks on a single charge is normal for my Dogtra e-collar. I train almost every day, come fall I guide at a hunt club or chase native birds 5 days a week. I live in Minnesota and use it all seasons... no issues with the cold hampering battery life here. My hunting and training partners all use D...

Re: Need help with choosing collar

Had the Tri-tronics Sport Upland, sent it back in countless times for repair.
My hunting partners have had similar problems with Tri-tronics.
We've all switched to Dogtra and glad we did.

Re: DT Systems Pigeon Launcher OR Dogtra Pigeon Launcher

DT Systems is not Dogtra and not even close to Dogtra in quality.
I've had the Dogtra PL and QL launchers for years along with Dogtra electronics on them.
Zero problems to date on all of them.

I had a couple of DT collars a few years back and they literally fell apart in less than a year.

You will find some videos way to complicated and in fact may take you a year to complete.
http://www.duckdogbasics.com is much easier to understand and is all you really need for
training a duck dog.

Dogtra and TT are both quality units.
Steer clear of the e-collars made in China!

Re: stopping car chasing

The e-collar is more than just a punishment tool. I'd recommend this video for anyone looking to e-collar condition a gun dog or a dog for competition. Makes no difference if it is a retriever, pointer or spaniel this will enlighten you to the proper use of the e-collar and how direct and indirect p...

Re: stopping car chasing

Ray, not looking for an argument, we just have different views on the use of the e-collar.
Good point GH. WHY start with punishment training when you can condition the dog properly
to the e-collar and build a proper foundation for future training.
Training your dog is a marathon not a sprint.

Re: stopping car chasing

I've attended seminars by Mike Lardy, Dave Rorem, Tom Dokken, Terry Holzinger, Pat Nolan, Danny Farmer and Evan Graham just to name a few. Never saw any of these top professionals use or condone using an e-collar without teaching a dog the OUT first.

Re: stopping car chasing

How do you know the dog will come back eventually when it bolts from the pressure ? How do you know the dog won't get its lungs crushed by a different car while running scared from your style of training methods ? The vast majority of good professional trainers all agree the e-collar is used to rein...

Re: stopping car chasing

Evans method is the proper way to go. If you just strap it on the dog and set it at a high level, what happens if the dog bolts?? Yes you may get the dog to avoid the car but he/she may also bolt from the area and avoid you and the setting where the high heat took place. The dog must understand how ...

Re: Dont know which e collar to buy

Take a look at the Dogtra 1900ncp. I've owned one for a couple of years, and the thing is bullet proof. I train and hunt year round... 2 weeks on a single charge is the norm. Besides a good e-collar, don't forget good instructional material on proper use of the e-collar and a solid collar conditioni...
