Re: Hunting grouse with flushers
If you hunt upland, and do some waterfowl hunting as well, maybe try a American Water Spaniel. They excel in the water and uplands, I use mine for Grouse Woodcock and Pheasant. And do alot of duck hunting. They are not near as hard to keep close as a Springer.

Re: newbie
I say be different, If I were to just hunt upland, and puddle ducks(not cold weather divers), I would really have to look into the Irish red and whites. Man they look like pure hunters.

Re: color of labs
Black is the dominate color, so there will be more, as said above, one litter can have all three colors. I would avoid the "New" colors they are claiming. The silver, (some say there is a wiem in the woodpile), the reds or whites. They are getting real popular, and most are breeding now just to get ...

That is a fine dog, and they a good all around breed. If I were to use a program, I would recommend Evens Smart Works series. As foe a book, still can't go wrong with Walters Waterdog.

Re: How did you get hooked on bird hunting?
I remember back in the way early 70's my dad taking me pheasant hunting with his springers, then with labs when he switched over. Then I was stationed at Wurtsmith AFB in Oscoda Mi. and got hooked on The grouse and timberdootles. Been hooked ever since. Still love them pheasant, and hope to get out ...

Probly giving awaya million dollar E-Collar Idea
Ok , so maybe it has been looked at, or maybe I should be a product designer. But has anyone looked into melding a Upland training collar / beeper, with a GPS locating system, all in one collar??? I wouldn't need it, but the pointer crowed would love it.

Would really like to try a Tri Tron. But with child Support and alimony, just isn't in the cards right now. Also used my dads...

I am now in the process of training a AWS that was abused severly as a pup till she was a 7-8 months...
